Welcome to the Opening Mini-Burn of Burn Village
12-14 June 2026, near Castelo Branco, Portugal
This is a non-commercial co-creative event. To join, apply by filling out the form below (required).
Here you'll find out who we are, what this event is about, and what to expect as a participant.
Who we are
Burn Village is a community in the making. Its vision is to bring the principles and magic of Burning Man into daily life. It's a social experiment in making a better model for society, one that takes the elements of Burning Man and merges them with the "default" world.
Burn Village is also 7 hectares of land of secluded quiet nature in East Portugal (near Boom festival, ~2.5 hours from Lisbon). It is nestled in a quiet valley overlooking a river and forested hills.
What this event is about
When we first arrived at the land, there was nothing here but raw nature. Pristine - but not yet ready for community life.
Now, after three years of development, building, and installing basic infrastructure, the village is ready to open its gates. We are excited to invite Burners - and Burn-curious humans - to visit, connect, and explore the opportunities the village offers.
To mark this important milestone, we will gather for a full-weekend Burn-style event in which we'll socialize, celebrate, and co-create together.
What to expect
-
Participation:
This is a 100% non-commercial gathering. We don’t have a ticket sale. In the spirit of "No Producers, No Consumers", your contribution to the community is your ticket.
There are many ways to contribute, and the ideal way is one that excites you and that matches your skills. If you don't have your own idea, we'll be happy to suggest ways you can help. We'll also publish a list of help needed closer to the event.
-
Principles:
The event follows the 10 Principles of Burning Man. Get to know them if you don't already.
-
Radical Self-Reliance:
You are responsible for your own survival and comfort. BYO tent/van, food, 5L drinking water, power bank, and whatever else you need for a weekend in nature.
-
Communal Effort:
While we practice self-reliance, we also want to run as many things as possible as a community (such as cooking meals) - simply because it's so much better (and more fun 😊).
Join the discussion on Telegram before the event for more details.
-
Content:
As mentioned earlier, content is created by us, the participants. Looking at previous mini-burns, expect things like workshops, ecstatic dance, DJ sets, educational talks, group games, movie night, communal dinners, long conversations around the fire, dipping in the river, and if we're lucky - cuddle puddles and massage circles.
But really, anything goes - this event is your experiment lab and your opportunity to shine. Perfection is not a requirement.
-
Decommodification and Gifting:
Nothing can be bought or sold at the event.
Instead, we run a gifting economy, so feel free to bring gifts (tangible or otherwise) to share with the community.
